What is Triphala?
Triphala literally meaning “the three fruits”, Triphala is an herbal preparation used in Ayurvedic medicine. Triphala is a polyherbal Ayurvedic medicine which is a combination of three dried fruits that are native to India:
Amalaki (Emblica officinalis): The first fruit used in making Triphala is Amalaki, or Emblica officinalis, and is also known as Phyllanthus Emblica or the Indian gooseberry, Amalaki is a rich source of Vitamin C. - Half teaspoon Triphala churna
- 250ml water
- Take Triphala churna and add it to a glass of water.

Cooking Time: 10 minutes
- 1/4th teaspoon Triphala churna
- 250 ml water
- 1 inch Cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon Honey or maple syrup(optional)
- Add between Triphala churna to water in a pan.
- Bring to a simmer and let it boil.
- Add cinnamon sticks and honey or maple syrup if you want, let it simmer.
- Remove the tea from the boil and pour yourself a cup.
Side Effects of Triphala
While Triphala is generally considered safe and has proven health benefits, it may cause side effects in some people. For example, due to its natural laxative effects, it may cause diarrhea and abdominal discomfort, especially in high doses.
